Giving Props: Complex Mag’s “50 Greatest Bay Area Rap Songs”

As a native of Oakland, CA, I hella appreciated this list.  Sure, I might have liked to see a few things on this list, but I’m glad that the Bay has a list in the first place!  We don’t get shown enough love, so shout out to Complex Mag for making this happen. 🙂 I will give you my top ten songs, though, that shouldve made the list (in no specific order0 as well as one song from their’s that I can’t even fuck with. Lol.  Also, shoutout Tyla B. for putting me onto this!

  1. “Not My Job” by Mac Dre
  2. “Loaded” by Droop E
  3. “The Art of Storytelling” by e-40
  4. “Lots of Paper” by Mac Dre.
  5. “Thizzle Dance” by Mac Dre
  6. “New Oakland” by Mistah FAB
  7. “Keep it on The Real” by 3xKrazy
  8. “Right Here” by Erk tha Jerk
  9. “Grapes” by Nump feat. Federation and e-40
  10. “The Bay” by Zion I

Wow! I could have gone on and on and ON about which bay songs would’ve been in my top 50.   Maybe in twenty years, Complex will allow me to do the top 100, instead of top 50 Greatest Bay Area Rap Songs.
